Description
Deformity depends on the degree of fracture displacement. Fractures angulated more than determined values usually need to be reduced. Metaphyseal fractures have a peak incidence during adolescence due to weakening through the metaphysis with rapid growth.
This procedure allows measuring the angle between the long axis of a long bone and fracture angle on the metaphysis.
Measurements
The measurement made by the procedure is displayed in the image:
- Metaphyseal Shaft Fracture Angle (MSFA): the angle between the axis of a long bone and the axis of the fractured fragment on the metaphysis.
